man....im stunned...he was one of my favorites....and i couldnt stand the twins but i loved him.....man...the good ones die young
I am stunned. I was praying for him last night and today. I really thought that he could make it after the surgery. But it really is a sad day for baseball.

Didn't Kirby have a degenerative eye disease that was eventually going to make him blind?
wasn't that what ended his career?
he would have been a great commentator.
i lucked up and bought a kirby autograph bout 10 years ago.

He had glycoma that forced him to retire because he was blind in one eye. His other eye was fine though.
Very sad.
